Pro Girya Russian Kettlebell Training

Kettlebell training is rapidly growing in popularity amongst general fitness enthusiasts and athletes. Used by Russian military and special forcesthe "kettlebell" or girya(Russian) is a traditional cast iron weight that looks like a cannonball with a handle. The ultimate tool for extreme all round fitness.
The kettlebell goes way back, it first appeared in Russian dictionary in 1704. So popular were kettlebells in Tsarist Russia that any strongman or weightlifter was referred to as girevik, or "a kettlebell man".
Kettlebell has been touted as the most efficient piece of strength training equipment available. Proponents of kettlebell training suggests that it increases strength, power, speed, co-ordination as well as core stability.
Classes are taken by Pro-Girya Master Instructor Vadim Kolganov (Brittish Sambo Champion). Vadim has also studied Wing Chun, Western Boxing. He completed his certification in Russian Kettlebell systems (R.K.C) in Copenhagen Denmark under the tuition of the world famous Russian instructor Pavel Tsatouline.
Pro-Girya Master Instructor Vadim Kolganov was born on 1st Sep 1968 in the Moscow region of Russia in the city of Pushkino. Started training in Karate in 1979, moving swiftly onto Judo and Sambo. In 1980 started competeing in the Central Dynamo club, becoming club champion several times. Became Moscow champion in 1986. Completed high school and entered the Central University of Culture and Sport, studying towards a diploma in physical education and coaching. In 1988 was enlisted into the Russian Army and spent the next two years flying helicopters and parachuting in the Soviet Air Forces. In 1990 re-joined course at the Central University of Culture and Sport and completed Diploma. In 1992 worked in the Moscow Region Police Force as an inspector of Physical Education and self defence within the forces. In 1993 he worked in a Valentin Dikul spinal injuries and cerebral palsy clinic which led to a trip to Britain where he met his wife and settled down in Scotland where he now lives and works. Vadim returned to competitive wrestling in 2005 taking the Bronze medal at the World Masters Championships in Prague. In 2006 he won the title of Brittish Sambo Champion. Vadim has also studied Wing Chun, Western Boxing, Ju Jitsu and American Freestyle Wrestling. In May of 2008 he completed his certification in Russian Kettlebell Systems (R.K.C) in Copenhagen, Denmark under the tuition of the world famous Russian Instructor Pavel Tsatsulin.
